Does everyone need the app?
The iPhone app is the way to shoot. Friends you invite can also open the link in their phone's browser and shoot there without installing anything, just without the flash.
Does anyone need an account?
Everyone who shoots signs in with an email address, host and guests alike. astra emails a one-time code, so there is no password to make up, and your photos follow you to any phone you sign in on.
What if the Wi-Fi is bad?
In the iPhone app, every photo waits on the phone until it has uploaded, and goes up the next time astra is open with signal, even hours later. Open astra before the capsule develops so your frames make it. The camera shows how many are still sending.
Can people upload photos they already took?
No. The point is shooting in the moment.
How long are photos stored?
Until you delete them. No expiry, no download fees.
How long does a capsule run?
One night. It stops taking photos at 1, 2 or 3 am and develops the next morning, at 9 am, 10 am or noon. Another night is another capsule.
Can I see photos before the reveal?
Only with a peek: one random photo, shown to you alone, up to three a capsule. The host can switch peeks off, and then nobody can, including the host. That's the fun.
Who sees the photos afterwards?
The people who were there, and once it develops, anyone on astra, in a gallery inside the app: that's how a capsule with other people starts out. The host can lock it to the people who were there instead, and anyone who shot in it can take their own frames out. A capsule you shoot alone stays yours.
Is there a subscription?
Not for a capsule: those are one-time, and free for up to ten people. astra plus is an optional subscription for choosing your film.
Android?
Not as an app yet. Friends on Android can open the link in their browser and shoot there, without the flash.
