A disposable camera for a birthday
The person organising a birthday is also at the birthday. Anything that needs managing during it will not get managed.
You are not the photographer
Set it up once, put the QR where people will see it, and stop thinking about it. There is no gallery filling up that you feel responsible for, no notifications on the night, and nothing to moderate, because nothing is visible until it develops.
Nobody is on their phone
There is no preview, no retake and no feed, so a phone is a camera for a few seconds and then it goes away. It is the closest a group gets to the behaviour of a real disposable without anyone having to police it.
The morning is the present
At nine the next day every photo from everyone appears at once — including the ones taken of you while you were not looking, which is the entire reason to do this rather than a shared album.
What it costs
Free for up to ten people, which covers most birthdays. Bigger rooms are priced once by headcount and never as a subscription.
How it works
- Start a capsule and pick when it opens.
- Everyone scans the QR, joins with a first name and shoots, in the iPhone app or the browser.
- Nobody sees a single photo until it opens.
- In the morning every photo appears at once, and none of them expire.
